The Divinity of Tiger Woods

Pastor John Ziegler presides over the First Church of Tiger Woods on the internet. The Pastor, tongue firmly in cheek, has proof that Tiger is indeed the Messiah. He even says he once saw Tiger feed the gallery with only a Power Bar, what more proof do you need? The Bible itself predicts Tiger's coming ....

Revelations 12:5 “And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron.”

Here the scriptures predict how Tiger, at a young age, will dominate the world with his irons.

I find the site very funny and well written. Annnnnd, it's useful to point out how ridiculous believing in biblical phrophecy really is as you can certainly interpret it in any means fashionable. Good luck out there, Tiger Bless ... and don't forget, Tiger's most important day of the week is Sunday ... I'll be seated in the front pew around 3pm most Sundays.

Pedophile Priests

The Cardinals were called to the Vatican recently to talk about the sexual abuse crisis facing the Catholic Church and it's priests. It's been pointed out that the incidence rate of abuse is low amongst the priesthood but any incidence rate at all is of course abhorent. This isn't just true of the preisthood but nonetheless being in such a position of power seems to make it all the worse doesn't it. I think the shocking part is really the sheltering of abusive priests. It was revealed that church leaders have paid out over 1.3 billion in settlements to victims over the past 15 years and known sex offender priests were moved on to other parishes. Ain't that luvly.

I actually feel pity for the priesthood during this scandal. It's almost become a crime to be a priest, guilt by association. I hear the police warn everyone in the neighbourhood each time a new priest moves into the neighbourhood. Oh that was a bit funny, c'mon now.

Inglis, Florida Bans Devil

The mayor of the town of Inglis, Florida has banned the devil from the town. The Town Proclamation states that the devil is no longer welcome in Inglis as of November 1st, 2001. Wonder where he'll go now?

Suicide Bombers in the Middle East

Oh, you gotta luv people who've been so brainwashed into a religious concept they're willing to blow themselves up. Makes for such an interesting world really. How much longer before you figure this will happen on North American soil and in particular the U.S. of A.? I would wager any day now. There's news out there saying that Suddam amongst others give money to the family left behind by the suicide bomber and they are revered as heroes themselves. It'd be nice to think that it's just the uneducated that volunteer to be martyrs but nope. The main requirement is religious fanaticism of course and while this may lean towards the uneducated it knows no class distinctions. As long as you grew up reading the Koran and can be convinced your reward for blowing other people up along with yourself is a quick trip to heaven and bountiful virgins at your disposal. Not sure why that hook appeals to a lady bomber but they are few and far between anyway. Wonder where they get all those beautiful virgins in heaven anyway? I mean c'mon ... if a woman dies a virgin there's usually a very good reason and beautiful ain't oneofem eh. Oh get over it, c'est une joke.

Anyway, I was looking for another good reason to link to Richard Dawkin's article Religion's Misguided Missiles. A primer for anyone wanting to start a religious movement and especially one that includes those willing to die for it.

The Gift

A heavy sleet rages war against the windows this evening. Yep, can't sleep and feeling a bit poetic so be forewarned. You see, my darling just asked me a simple nighttime question, "...so you don't believe there's a heaven?" "No", I replied with sorrow, "I don't." Her beloved grandmother has just passed away you see. The last words my darling spoke before drifting off are still with me, "then where is she?"

Where is she ... is she in a wonderous place of light and goodness? No. But a part of her drifted off to sleep with the words, "...where is she?" She is a part of you my love as she is her children, and her children's children, and my daughter, and those yet to be. The lessons of life, of guidance, of love, that is where she is and will continue on as this is truly the greatest gift we leave behind of ourselves. Perhaps the only lasting memory in a time awash in the absolute memory of no-one.
