The Fad of Daily Inspiration

You may have heard about Pastor Rick Warren. He's written a very successful series of books with the best-selling "Daily Inspiration for The Purpose-Driven Life" leading the way with well over 10 million copies out there. Let me say first I haven't read it but I'm kind've skeptical (say it ain't so) of the bible reduced to sound bites? I mean isn't this what religion shouldn't be, pop culture fad? I'm beyond skeptical outside of the religious context too as I think folks like Tony Robbinsare excellent at marketing themselves but not much use for you to find whatever it is your looking for in your life. The Robbins way is to buy his books, then some tapes, oh then maybe attend a few seminars, repeat until broke. One thing seems certain, Pastor Rick Warren has got to be a very rich man now. But I don't think any vows of poverty made it into his books eh.

I think folks such as Mr. Robbins and Mr. Warren only lead credence to what I've been saying about people needing to follow something, believe something, anything for that matter. I don't believe that all of it is a bad message despite my protestations otherwise. I do believe you don't require it to be happy however and of course I continue to espouse the "no creator" business. A sense of values, community, family, friends, these are the building blocks for a happy life.
